as for the rest of you guys.. i am blown away with your comments.. i posted here to thank you guys for the ideas i picked up here and did not expect the responses you have posted .. i have just returned from the maiden voyage and was very pleased with the trailer.. it pulled great i did not know it was there.. and i dont think my gas mileage was affected at all ( none that i could notice ) any way there are a few little things now to add proper latches propane and jerry can mounts and most important the roof top tent .. just gotta find one ..

NICE WORK!!!! Can you give us a couple more pics of how you did the tailgate?? What did you make your lid out of...Steel or aluminum? It looks great

sorry for the delay been soooo busy..anyway ignore the paint job i had 2 nights to make look decent enough to use for the weekend i hope these pics help. hope to fix up the paint job real soon..
so we welded in some 2'' sq tube cut throught the floor and out the bottom welded to the frame as well .. used the the tube as a guide to plasma cut the door out inside the 2'' is a 1 1/2'' sq tube with holes drilled for the pins . a nut weled on the end for some acme thereaded rod and a round plate to that for a foot pad. i think i will add a couple of wings to the feet to help screw em in and out .. i looked at hydraulic screw type trailer legs but this was simple and free.. i like simple and i like free even better

that's some nice work you did on the trailer.

We all understand the Heep thing. You are on a predominant LC forum so it wouldn't be right if we didn't pick on you. My brother and neighbor has the Heep thing. I have been trying to cure them but to no avail. In reality we are just jealous of your trailer so we have to find something to get you on. :flipoff2:

thanks a ton for those pics of the tailgate! AMAZING job. That was very clever. I know I have already troubled you a ton, but if you have any more pics of the lid that would be great. There are a couple of us on the verge of lid development that could benefit from these. What guage steel did you go with? Did you have someone bend the lid for you? Or did you guys do it? I was all ready to just make a flat lid that sits right on top, but your design looks like it would seal the dust out nicely. thanks again for sharing. Cheers ian

Ok..I'm officially jealous...those back landing gear ARE THE CHIT!

I just ordered 2 - 15" drop leg jacks to weld on the bumper...and get rid of the smaller jacks.

You couldn't post it over the weekend and save me a 100$? :bang:

Great work!

Pat

I hear ya, i get a ton of PM's asking exactly what shade i used. Had to stop giving the info out to those who couldnt help themselves (it's in my thread) so as to not have a ton with exactly the same color.

On your side 'steps", do you have room for Gerri cans mounted upright? Or possibly a propane bottle?

I have a trailer project of my own, but it's far from done. Just borrowed this off a bud for an upcoming NAXJA event. I'll mount my RTT on it.

i dont thnk i can stand up the jerry cans they will definatly fit horizontaly dont know if that is legal or not and yes there is definatly room for the propane tanks there, that will be my next project that and deciding what rtt to put on it ,im really leaning toward the globetrotter, but im kinda waiting on this other one that olympiafj60 is working on, im not sure if it will suit my trailer but he has me interested..

We can all appreciate wheeling! I must say that some of the stuff they were winching through was pretty weak though.

Just kidding. Hang out here long enough and you'll have a cruiser before you know it.

After watching that vid :steer:...I don't believe that one bit :flipoff2: ....lololol

the truth is i dont like mud.. it gets in your seals wears stuff out . gets everywhere. i have a hidden snorkel that goes thru the firewall so the deep stuff dosnt scare me too much.. ive been in sooo deep the water was pourin in the windows.. that ole jeep is my daily driver.. i got a little honda (2003 CIVIC SIR 46,000 KMS never seen snow, seen rain once )i bring it out once in a while but mostly i drive the jeep ,anyway, a weekend of mud takes 2 weeks to clean.. i wood rather go rock crawling anyday..
