I recently replaced the master cylinder in my 1980 4x4 pickup, it had been leaking for a while and finally gave out. after installation and lots of tedious bleeding, it only engages at the very top of the pedal throw and doesn't seem to fully engage- clutch was normal before MC replacement. i've messed about a fair bit with both the MC and SC adj rods to no avail. i have it so there is a small amount of clutch fork freeplay with the pedal released (is this correct?) any ideas? need to get this running
thanks

you dont want enough pressure on the fork for it to actually push it but the slave should stay snug up against...shouldnt have a lot of movement from the fork...

the further the slave has to travel the worse the pedal will be

just replacing the MC you shouldnt have needed adjust anything BUT if you did all you want is about 1/4-1/2 of play in the pedal..

look in a pickup manual there should be a section on adjusting pedal

I had the exact same problem that you have described. I haven't yet messed with the slave yet but I have yet to get it back to normal.
