I am back in Montreal for Wed, Thurs & Fri, so can't make this meeting. Bill, as posted in the members only forum, I am planning a day trip up the Chilliwack Valley next Sunday, Jan 11 th. Those wanting to go can meet at 10:30 AM at Ricky's (ricky's chilliwack - Google Maps). It would be good if you could bring this up at the meeting so I can have an idea of how many are coming.

I propose we make a base day camp at the bottom of Chipmunk FSR for those who just want to take their kid's sledding. The first hill is a good sledding hill for the kids. For others who want to do some more wheeling, there are tons of trails nearby. If it is anything like last year, any rig should be able to make it to the base of Chipmunk with good tires. Although it can be pretty sloppy until you get over the Foley Creek bridge. Many other trails will be packed by snowmobiles. Others will be really chewed up by ATVs. Everyone should have appropriate clothing and gear for winter. You don't need a winch but you do need at a minimum a good flat steel shovel.

If everyone brings some fire wood, that will help.

I'll post my cell # and email in the members only forum thread.

Happy New years all

Just wondering if Rob will have the calendars at the meeting?
Do we bring money for them or may I spend it on RAFFLE tickets?!

See ya'll tonight

i should be able to attend tonight...and pay my member dues. john, is your outing still on for this sunday? im interested, will probably be bringing 2 of 3 kids, hopefully for some sledding. wonder how the weather will be? with all this rain, has the higher elevations also been hit? dont want to take the kids sledding in slush...

see ya guys tonight

Chilcotin trip dates

Can we decide on the July 25th to August 9th for the Chilcotin trip tonight at the meeting ?

Taking the last week in July and the first week in August straddles the August long weekend. That should be the warmest weather, which uses up 9 working days of holidays for 16 days away from work. July 25th to August 9th.

Sorry guys cant make it tonite

Its nice and cold here, about -12C. But here is Montreal. I just looked at the news of what's going on in the valley and am wondering about safety or even if some of the bridges may be blown out. The location I selected is beside the normally placid Chipmunk Creek. However, from what I have seen on news video, all the creeks and rivers in the valley are going like crazy. I'll PM Martin and get his reading on it.

Hope you all have a good meeting and no one takes my calendar.

Enjoy Montreal.

I haven't been up towards Chipmunk in a while. With the rain on snow it is very possible that there may be washouts and debris torrents. But considering you weren't looking to go to high up, maybe Foley Lake, you might be ok.

The flooding that prompted the local state of emergency is a bit west of town center in the Greendale area. Hope all is well at Sheldon's place!

Was only here two nights. The first night I got in too late to enjoy anything and the city was pretty dead with the first big snow storm of the year. Last night was out at a very packed pub (Canadians played and whopped the Leafs). Still called it an early night. I don't speak French but have to work in French and it takes a lot of concentration to keep up with the discussions. Pub crawling until 5:00 AM is not an option anymore.

Martin, was that bentonite sluff over the road to Foley fixed up? If not, it won't be passable in these conditions. I see from the forecast that it getting colder with a forecast of rain and snow for Chillwack. Should be snow further up the Valley. Sunday looks like a good day with just some flurries or rain in the forecast. If the snow up near Chipmunk freezes hard, it will be easy to drive on top of.

I spent many a nites at the Cleopatra way back when. I was thinking about Sheldon too, and I have never met him(greendale)
