has anybody ever tried cleaning or servicing the check connector next to the fuse box in the engine compartment? Mine looks and feels like it is blocked with 23 year old dielectric gunk mixed with road dust. Truck is a 1990 22RE. I tried to jump the fuel pump to check the system for leaks tonight. Not sure if I succeeded, although there were no signs of leaks.

You should be able to hear/feel fuel going through the system w/ the connectors shorted. That's been the case on all my mini's.:)

That's what I expected. I couldn't hear the pump at all. I will retry the check connector tonight with a different paperclip. I usually only need the check connector for the timing, so the fuel pump connectors are very stiff and dubious looking.

Still couldn't get the fuel system to pressurize with the check connector. Truck starts and runs fairly well. I will work on the check connector later. No signs of fuel leaks so far.
