So after reading about 40 threads on this, I thought I'd ask again.

Does pouring 50/50 mix of brake fluid and water down the intake while running (hot) actually break up carbon deposits? Will this hurt the seals?

I've read some that say using 50/50 mix of automatic tranny fluid and water works, any thoughts?

My head rebuilder told me to put a quart or two of ATF in the oil and idle it for ten minutes (DO NOT DRIVE) and flush it out and do a full oil/filter change. He said it gives it a good cleaning. This guy is a very good engine guy, and very successful. He's actually the only other person I've allowed to touch any vehicle of mine. He also does all the heads for SOR and Man-a-Fre (just side work for him). Good luck.

ok, that sounds good and easy. Do I remove two quarts of engine oil and replace it with the two quarts of ATF or just add two quarts on top of it.

I wanted to do this because I started it after sitting for 8+ years from a previous owner in a yard. I did compression tests and believe I have some stuck rings.

Will this help with build up on the valves?

Thanks
