Please volunteer for the annual Christmas tree cutting weekends.
The Forest Service is looking for numbers of vehicles on which days.

Basic info: For the first two weekends in December which are Dec 5 and 6, Dec 12 and 13 the Colorado Land Cruisers patrol the Christmas Tree cutting area off Rampart Range road with the Forest Service. We pull stuck cars out of the snow, locate lost hikers and lost vehicles and help the Forest Service with placing signs. We can use all of the help that you will offer. We can use up to 12 veicles per day. A minimum number of 4 per day really helps out. We meet at the Western Gas station in Woodland Park (8:00 - 8:30) and then procede to the Forest Service trailer at the middle school, and then to the chain up area at the sledding hill on Rampart Range Road (first parking area heading north). Bring tire chains if you have them, lunch for yourself and any guests, normal trail equipment for cold weather runs. This is one of the main ways that we can help the Forest Service and maintain good relations with them.

I'll be there all 4 days.

I'll plan on one day each weekend - I'll plan on whatever ends up looking light.

At this time I am planning on all 4 days as well. I might get over ruled on one of the days but as of now I am a go for 4.

I'll be there all 4 days.

OK, I lied!

I have a half-marathon on the 5th. If I run it fast, I won't have the energy to do anything after it, and if I run it slow, I won't have the time to make it up there afterwards. SO, I will most likely not make it on the 5th unless I hurt myself prior and don't run.

The girlfriend says we can definitely be there the 5th and 6th and would also like to do the second weekend. We'll have to decide on that later (I'd say more than 80% sure on the second week end. Karen (the GF) is really looking forward to running around helping people out.

My wife, son and I would be interested in helping out on Sunday the 6th.

Do we need to go clear down to Woodland Park to meet you at Rampart Range Road, or can we come down on it from the North to meet up with you somewhere along the way?

I have CB but no Ham. We'll be coming from Evergreen via Deckers.

Thanks and you can PM me about the meeting place.

Thanks!
Dave

Pretty sure the gate on Rampart is locked by now, If coming from Evergreen through Deckers, you will either have to take 67 all the way to Kelly road in Woodland Park......Or if you know your way, you can come up through Rainbow Falls on C.R. 351.

I would suggest coming in to Woodland Park via 67, and making the left on Kelly road, because we meet on the East side of Woodland Park middle school, which is on the corner of Rampart Range and Kelly road. We usually get to that point about 9 AM.

Christmas Tree Run

Since I'll be back in CS for this next month, I'm planning on going the 6th and maybe the 13th. Since the FJ40 will be here in Grand Junction, as I'm hoping to do a 21 road run in Jan if it snows over here like it did last year. I'll have to snag a ride with David M., - that or chain up the old 6 cylinder Dodge, all 4, and see what it will do in the snow! I'd really hate to get it stuck though - I've had the old F250 stuck and they don't even budge unless you have something of equal, or greater, mass to move it - either that or Vic's F350 pulling FJ40!

Good to see so many of the past crew on 'Mud - like Charlie, Scott, as well as Jeff. The CLC forum has really taken off these past few months.

Hope we can get the same kind of turn outs for the Christmas tree cutting runs as we did for the Reynolds Wrap and Eagle Rock. A little less carnage would be good.

I m in for the 6th for sure. Come hell or high water (or snow) caint wait to see all ya'lls rigs. I feel the addiction setting in. AINT SCARED BRING IT!!!!!
