Saturday 9/30/06 at 1:00-until at 49 Tire

We will be installing a Toyota Mini/4Runner power steering gear box with a Volvo Saginaw pump. Bill Dorry brackets will be used for both.

If you plan on power steering in the future, come see what a great upgrade this can be. Chris likes his 40 now, but just wait till he gets PSd! A lot of us are running this set-up with Toyota pumps. There are a few running the Saginaw pump with a Saginaw PS gear. I don't think anyone has put this combination together locally. I have a Volvo Saginaw pump waiting to go on my 40 sometime down the road. See the following links:

I will also be shimming my rear axle and puttin' on my 35s!!!

Come on down and lend a hand or just some moral support

I will do my best to be there.

If anybody needs to do something to their rig, your welcome to use my lifts and air Sat.
G-Rock is just around the corner!:)

Chris

Gents,

Been working my arse off all over New England. Seems like I am missing out on all the cool mods! I just got back in town, and the knobs I work for want me to help out with inventory all wknd. Go figure. Monsterjobs can have my monster job.

Ben,

Are you going to be able to make Gray Rock?

With Lash and Greg's intell, Bill Dorry's brackets and mounts and my guys at work, we got the power steering conversion done this week.
Still needs some fine tuning but looks like that job is about complete.
Lash is coming down Saturday alittle before 1:00 to take care of his drive shaft and get some nice Cox.50-15 Hankook MT
If any others are coming just let me know.

Chris

Chris,

Have you driven it with PS yet?? How do you like it??????

My fenders are trimmed with flares installed. They look good but just a little empty with the 33x10.5s. Looking forward to Saturday and 35s!

I should have done this two years ago, but it has worked out just fine.

Saturday, Lash came down to the store and blessed the power steering conversion my guys did.
Greg thanks for coming by earlier in the week to give my guys some words of encouragement.
Bill Dorry's mounts and brackets for the conversion worked great. They cost alot but made the process very easy and quick.
I had to get a new alternator so that we could get a belt to run to the ps pump. Everything worked great.
Lash on Saturday got his drive shaft installed and his new tires. Gunrunner is looking good for G-Rock.
Hard to believe its been just 60 days since Greg's snake and the apple voice told me to BUY the 40 and Clutchee went up with me to pick it up.

Thanks again wrench heads for your knowledge and encouragement.

Chris

That was the easiest PS conversion I have ever done... er watched.... um saw when already finished!

Thanks to Chris for the use of the shop in getting my rear axle shimmed and driveshaft installed.

Oh yeah....

MY 35 X 12.5 X 15 HANKOOKs ARE AWESOME.

I did a little spontaneous wheeling on Saturday late. I found a nice ditch just a few inches shorter than my wheelbase and gave the new springs and tires a workout. I hit it at 45* angles alternating sides. It really tested the springs and driveshaft. Happy to report no issues there. On the way home the springs were even a little softer.

One issue to report:

About a week ago I had to cut the end of my tailpipe off due to the longer wheelbase and tire rub. Unfortunately the exhaust is pointing directly at the top left shackle to frame bushing which is now partially MELTED! I'll get the exhaust fixed this week and deal with it.

Remember to check the U-bolt's. You might need to tighten them after a few trips out.

Later,
