We made an impromptu run to Chinaman's yesterday. It was Luke, Lonnie and myself on the run. This is the first test for Pretty Penny since I built the rear antiwrap bar and the rear bumper. The bumper isn't finished yet. It will have wings on the sides to protect the quarter panels. I cut 5" off the driver side quarter panel but still need to cut the passenger side.

In the first picture you can see that the rear wheels are not on the ground. Guess what happens when you try to back up in this situation? Oh ya and notice the tree behind Pretty Penny and the thing we didn't notice was that the driver side of the bumper was pushing on a tree root that was just under the dirt.

In the second picture you can see the bumper held up just fine with only a little missing paint. We had to pull Pretty Penny sideways to get her off the tree root so we could then pull her back off the rock after the birfield busted.

Lonnie was telling how I needed to line up for this obstacle. This is the second time Lonnie tried telling how to climb over this obstacle and the second birfield I busted on the same obstacle. Lonnie winched me off it both times. At this point I am not sure if I am glad Lonnie was with me both times since he winched me both times or if its Lonnie’s fault I busted both times.

I am back together again. Now I have Longfields on both sides but no more spare birfields. The next time I break one I will go to the 30 spline's.

Anyone want to try Chinaman's again.......Make it or break it!

I'd be up for it about any time, just let me know. And I have spare birfs.

Was thinking about running it this Sunday with a group from Co4x4, but there isn't a single Toy in the group.

Colorado LandCruisers will be running Winding Stairs on Saturday so I was going to go on that run. I don't think I can get a kitchen pass for both Saturday and Sunday.

Tell me about Winding Stairs.

winding stairs is off of the East side of Rampart Range Road North of the Shubarth Trail..

Its got some sections that are very washed out, Ive never been further than about half way down, but it could be interesting in the snow!

I've been looking all over the net for directions to winding stairs. Traildamage.com has a link and pictures, but the driving directions they give are very vague. all of the directions/maps I have found suggest winding stairs is the same thing as FS 323. Not sure what to expect for saturday, Hope we find something good. Would like to see somene who knows where this trail is to show up this weekend.

We were talking about it at the meeting, I know I have heard about it and have probably been on it, but wouldn't know it.
