Hey guys, I have hunted all over for the info, but figured it would pay off to just ask some of you guys instead. I have all the stuff to swap my 88 Yota rear springs with a set of 63" chevy springs. But I am not sure what kind of configuration I want to set up on my truck to accept shocks. I also am not sure what length shocks to get. I am also in the middle of getting a TrailGear IFS Eliminator kit (to get rid of all those pesky bangs and bumps that you guys had to endure from behind you while I tried to keep up in Clayton in November) that comes with 14" travel Bilstein shocks. I am thinking an extra set of those to go in the back would do me good, but not sure of that, and not real sure of how I should see them up.

I have read a few articles on Pirate4x4 about the swap, but nothing about the actual shocks used, or a specific configurations that worked out any better than another. Any help you guys could thro my way... would be very helpful.

I'm planning on running 63" Chevys in the rear (no jokes ladies) with 15" BBCSs through the bed. (Damn, it don't matter how you stack it. That just don't sound right. :flipoff2: )

Anyway, I'm trying to match front/rear flex. I've already got the 15s in front and they work great. :hillbilly:

Cool. I am thinking since I am getting the 14" Bilsteins with the SAS kit I might as well, get the same for the rear.

As far as thru the bed, I would like to keep the bed intacked for other things that happen in a bed...:flipoff2:

I was wondering if I angled them inward if I could still fit them under neath the ass'n end of my truck.

Thanks for the help. I have lost of mods on my truck over the next few months, so I may be askin for more help on other sutff. (like SAS, hyrdo assist steering, bobbing the bed, re-thinking my bumpers/cage, etc...):D

I did chev springs on my cruiser, not quite the same but some of the same considerations. Try not to angle the shocks to much as this decreases their effectiveness. I install springs then measure for shocks. Raise body up to get max droop then decide where the the shock mounts have to go to accomidate that length shock. Remember you don't want the shock to be bottom out on full compression or limit your droop.

Thanks guys. I guess I will have to just do a lot more research on the net for this. I have been looking for about a year and a half now for the spring swap, and feel pretty comfortable with it, just wasn't sure on shocks. I had planned on tring to get the shocks delivered with my SAS kit, but I guess it won't kill me to wait a little longer to do the rear. I guess I can put the springs under the truck first, the do my flex test and figure out where the shocks would best be placed. Thanks for the help guys. I will no doubtedly be asking more opinions.
