Hi, just purchased a 1986 Chevy 1ton 4wd dually. I took it on a 1000 mile trip and noticed it doesn't seem to kick down when I jump on the throttle. The PO had switched out the intake and carb to Performer products. It is smog legal. Can anyone tell me the basics of testing and replacing the kick down switch? I am guessing it is under the dash, by the gas pedal.
Thanks Brad

Most likely it is another cable coming off the carb.

If its a TH350 it has a cable going from the tranny to the carb linkage. If you have a TH400 there is a switch under the gas petal that grounds out and downshifts the tranny electronically.

Thanks guys , it's a TH400. I will check out the switch on the pedal.
