checking oil pressure on 22r 1994

1994 p/u 4x4 sitting yr or two. Truck is up and running but can't get a read on oil pressure. Gauge in dash is not working also sending unit bad. Is there a quick way to see if I'm getting oil flow thru engine? 250k miles don't know if ever rebuilt but seems to run good no smoke etc..THe rest of dash gauges work . I am probably missing something basic.

I'd check and see if there is a fuse / ground between the gauge / sensor. To be honest, I'm not aware of any way to check for oil pressure otherwise. I do know my 3VZE was very dependant on RPM for oil pressure.
 
Maybe you could temporarily hook up an aftermarket sender and gauge to ensure that things really are good.
 
Pull off valve cover, dizzy, balancer, accessories, timing cover, and heater lines. There is a bolt hidden under the chasm gear, so that will have to come off too. You should definitely change your timing set while you're in there.

It's been awhile since I've done it, but I think that covers it. On second thought, you may actually have a damaged timing covert and the pump gears may be fine. Look for broken metal in your oil.

IIRC, this was an 8 hour job for me alone. Remember where all the bolts came from. Some are slightly different lengths.

Well I replaced oil pump and nothing! Nopressure ! @%%$! Is my engine just shot All I was told it was parked about 2 years ago. I triple checked my new manual guage and it works fine. I mean I'm not even getting a bump 0n the guage. Is primimg oil pump manditory? and how do you do it? I may just be SOL with this engine? Help.
 
Have you checked y the condition of the sump screen?
 
Also, make sure there's no obstruction in the oil pressure test port.
