Cheap CB set-up Q's

I've been using a handheld unit for years. I have so many cruisers and I am not going to buy units for each of them. I use a magnet mount antenna and move it from vehicle to vehicle. Power comes from the cig lighter.

As far as the external antenna, I never did this, but was planning on it for my handheld FRS/GMRS radios, they work good (for what we use them for) but the speakers are never really loud enough. So I got a fake tape thingy, the one that you usually hookup to a Discman or such, where you can feed whatever audio you want into your system (like a old-school FM-modulator), little wire dangling out of the tape player, etc, but it should work ok then, atleast get it loud enough to hear (Junk's anal rants are priceless, you don't want to miss a second of that!). Now that I think about it, the whole FM-modulator thing would be slick too, and those are sold all over for ~$20, so that'd be a cool way to get the audio to your car's stereo too.

Hey all:

Since I am planning on going to Cmcc 2005 this year, I decided, upon closer inspection of requirements and , uh-hem, nudging from the Junkster, that I should get at least a cheap CB to aid in communications.

I have no clue where to start, but I started looking at Radio Shack.

Is the model I have listed below a decent starter CB and one that will work for my purposes? What else would I need? Antenna?

Any helps is appreciated and I'd like to keep the cost of this down below $100 total for now.

Thanks again.

I have had that model in my rig for 6 years with no problems.

so you guys are using GMRS/FRS on the trail rather than CBs now?
