I've always thought it was more of the "hey, look, lets jack this truck up" type prank rather than someone looking to gain. Especially since the

truck was sitting next to mine with her stinger and hich pin (same type) sitting right there.

I've been pleasantly surprised with it. You can't take the key out unless it's fully locked, so there's no way to "accidentally" have it come off. The key is also the dimple style of key, rather than a standard ridge cut house key, which is supposed to be more difficult to pick (that's the paranoia in me coming out

).
It's really beefy and heavy, and has a cap to prevent the tumbler from getting corroded. I've had the cap come off after running through some brush, but that was the only time.
Plus as cheap as it is if it gets too bad I'll just chuck it and buy a new one.
