That is a great idea! You don't run the risk of running with only one bolt in place on the roads....insta-flex! I like it.

I've driven on the roads quite a bit with it out. It's noticable when you hit bumps/corners, but not horrible.

BTW, I had mine stolen off my truck one night. I since replaced with a locking one, which gives me a bit more peace of mind about it getting ripped off (either by a rock or a thief).

I remember you posting that. I can't believe someone actually got under there to steal a $1.99 hitch pin.

What type of locking pin or brand do you use? I had one on the back of a truck and the tumbler got really corroded after a few years.

I've always thought it was more of the "hey, look, lets jack this truck up" type prank rather than someone looking to gain. Especially since the :princess: truck was sitting next to mine with her stinger and hich pin (same type) sitting right there.

I've been pleasantly surprised with it. You can't take the key out unless it's fully locked, so there's no way to "accidentally" have it come off. The key is also the dimple style of key, rather than a standard ridge cut house key, which is supposed to be more difficult to pick (that's the paranoia in me coming out  ).

It's really beefy and heavy, and has a cap to prevent the tumbler from getting corroded. I've had the cap come off after running through some brush, but that was the only time.

Plus as cheap as it is if it gets too bad I'll just chuck it and buy a new one. :hillbilly:

Dang, that is a good price. IIRC I paid almost $30 for mine but that was a decade ago and I couldn't find one for cheaper. Mine didn't have a cap.

I think I will do this mod when I correct my caster.
