This weekend I drove the 4Runner, 3 bikes, and 3 of my friends down to beautiful Brian Head resort in Southern Utah.

We made it home safe and sound last night, but the 4Runner is now making some new noises...

When I go from first gear to reverse, or frome reverse to first gear, when I hold in the clutch pedal I am getting some new noise.

My immediate thought is that a bearing in the transmission is bad. That said, I think perhaps it's the Throwout bearing (its only 3 years old though).

It doens't do this when I shift any other gears. Just from first to reverse or reverse to first.

Time to pull this thing and rebuild it? ITs the original transmission with 258k on it...

if it was the throw out bearing it would make it every time you pushed in the clutch

if you want you can slap the transfer case in neutral and play around with it

i seen a lot of reverse idler gears on W series loose a tooth and make a jacked sound
