I have a 1979 2wd truck with the 20r. My charge light is on all the time. After about a year it blew up my battery. Now after some digging and diagnosing I have isolated it down to the charge lamp relay. My problem inside the charge lamp relay is I have a blown resistor or diode...... I can clearly see it is burned out once I take the chip out.

So my question is this. What is the size and specifications of that diode or resistor.

I have already taken it to radio shack and the local electronic stores. No one can decifer the numbers on it to get me one to replace it with. I also do nota want to spend $128 on a new charge lamp relay when I can buy a $1 part to fix mine.

See the diode on the charge light. You can copy this and use a led. That's light emitting diode. It won't allow energy to flow but one way

Well I have a relay that sits on the driver side kick panel and I took it apart and saw that the diode or resistor was burned up. I took that to radio shack and the dealership and no one can tell me what size for it is since its old and doesn't have the standard markings on it. I don't want to spend $100 on a new charge lap relay for a $1.50 diode that is out. So I just need to know what size diode to put in
