How hard is to change a U-joint by my-self ? (I can do, knuckle rebuilt... the hardest thing I done yet !)

Is I realy need tha SST show in FSM ?

Is the shaft need to be balance after the job ?

… and… I read somewhere NAPA sell good U-joint ? Is it true ? This is for the front drive shaft… because it will have less stress than the rear one… is NAPA is a good choice ?

Merci les gars !

Not difficult at all. Just take your time and be carefull

No but it makes things easier. You will have to improvise but it's do-able with a hammer, a sturdy work-bench and some pieces of tubing, socket wrenches or eventually a hydraulic press.

It's better to do that, but not necessary.
Eventual some vibration can be caused if not balanced.

Don't know about NAPA or any other brand. Live in Europe:D

i have done it - but quicker to take to a shop and have them do it in about 10 minutes - just my opinion.

I agree. For the job itself. What them takes 10 minutes would take you 20.
But then you have to take your shaft over there. (half an hour to get there? ) They won't do it right then because they're busy so you have to come back the next day or so. Again half an hour.

So if it takes you an hour ( which it won't if you have some idea of what you're doing) you stil have saved a day and money, because they will charge you half an hour at least. ( Well, that's what they would do here  )

Have fun!!
