Yes the A/C idler pully must be loosened from below. And the box end of a wrench is the side that isn't U shaped, but rather goes all the way around the nut or bolt. Most wrenches are commonly combo's with a box and open end. But, true double head box end wrenches often have a longer shank and can provide more torque and reach.

62 belts and the shroud
I cut my fan shroud in half last time I had it all apart. I recommend it every chance I can. I'm not sure how a 2F is configured but working room on the front of a 3FE is tight!! It sucks IMO.
Even if you think you don't need to cut the shroud, trust me, it makes a WORLD of difference working on an fj62 when you can remove the top half of the shroud.
It will change your life...I take less Prozac now, don't kick the dog as much, and skies are always blue!!
