I recently picked up a '91 80-series. The CDL is engaged and will not disengage. This happened when I shifted into low range...I went back into high range and the CDL did not unlock. The dash button does nothing. It drives OK but binds and creaks when turning.
Any tips on disengaging the CDL manually?
Thanks

Try driving forwards and backwards a few meters a few times. Might need more than a few but if you feel it's been too many times you're probably right. You can do this in your driveway or an empty street.

Shallow turns in reverse work for me everytime. Give that a shot.

Fixed CDL

Turns out there was a loose connector on the CDL dash button. Got that resolved and now running fine.

You've got to love the easy fixes.

Yeah, loving that easy fix. Now on to my vibration issue...thinking u joints. It vibrates while drivetrain is engaged (accelerating, etc), but fairly smooth when coasting, idling.
