Now you're up to $85-90, plus you're gonna want a seperate microphone which will add another $10-20. Also, the antenna and dc connectors don't usually last too long. Unless you really need the portability, I'd go with a mobile unit. The small midland & cobras will mount about anywhere. Heck, I even found room in my 1st gen mini-truck :) Cobra also has one with the controls on the microphone so you can mount the radio under the seat.

You made some good points. I myself have been looking into the small cobra unit.
Question for you LX-450 guys; Has any one hooked into the cell phone mic and speaker for their cb radio stuff? I was wondering if i can use the speaker thats already there. I also believe that their is a mic located some place up front too.

Works as good as two tin cans with string.

Get an FRS or better yet get your ham license.

I already carry a Garmin RINO 130 which, in addition to GPS, has FRS and GMRS. This is my preferred method of communication but it seems like it isn't the most widley accepted/used. :frown:

Can those be heard by a CB too?

I don't think so nat. Although I've never paid attention to whether
they do or not.

I posted them up for communication purposes. Just between two friends wheeling their great!

I use them for the son, when he's in the boat. He got a favorite fishing
spot about 3 miles down river.

Nat -

Definately not.

GMRS is comprised of 23 fixed channels in the UHF range (462-467 MHz).

The only overlap would occur with FRS. Seven of the 23 GMRS UHF channels are common to 7 of the 14 fixed channels in the FRS, all of which are also in the UHF range (462-467 MHz).

CB is 40 fixed channels in the HF 11 meter band (27 MHz).

Cheers, R -
