I need to extend my coax from the antenna to the radio.

The diamond k400c mount came with a 6.5' rg8x w/ mini connector and a pl259 to mini adapter. THe ft2900 has a std pl259 F plugin.

Should I run LMR240 or rg8x (with appropriate connectors?

Does it make a real difference? Both seem to rated for HAM use.

Any advice here?

They're both the same diameter, but the LMR240 has a little bit better specs. IMO it won't make any difference on as short a run as you have inside a truck. The LMR240 has a solid center conductor, so if you're going to be making any sharp bends/corners with it I would use RG-8X instead.

Thanks guys.

Change in plans, I ended buying a 7900 so I can mount the controls seperate. With that being said I think I can using the 6' tail and mount the base of the unit in my rear quarter panel.

I've had my 2900 new in box for almost 6mo's. When I bought it was all I could afford, but was itching for the 7900. Well Christmas came early with a little bonus. Couple of the club guys are interested in the 2900, so made the most sense to me ;)
