I have heard through my wife's friends that there where thefts of catalytic converters of near Swedish Covenant Hospital and near Roosevelt and I90 (4runner). I also saw something in the news about it happening about a month ago. Just wanted to warn people in the those areas. Thefts should decrease with snow on the ground but just make sure you park in muddy puddles :) to deter thieves!

yup this has been happening for a year or so. They are after the platinum.

The best advice I can give is to avoid areas with high concentrations of "residentially challenged" persons wheeling those shopping carts/mobile homes. A vast majority of them are well equipped to remove a "cat" in a few minutes!

I'm surprised they can find a electrical receptacle to charge their reciprocating saws.

You wouldn't believe what they have in those damn carts! lol Hack saws and tin snips do just fine if you've ever seen these guys work! Most of them hang around the metal recycling joints in the early morning, some sleep during the day and go "cat hunting" at night.
We had a rash of stolen sewer covers a few years back and found the junkers were scrapping them at local yards. 75 pounds of cast iron can get you some decent change! The problem was is that you'd get cars stuck in the open holes starting around 6 am. It took us a week to find the 4 guys doing it.
