I picked up a couple tubes of Castro Synthetic all purpose grease a while ago. Thought it would be great for unis and general greasing of things like tierod ends, etc. However, I have noticed that it seems to be seperating as a clear oily liquid comes out the bottom of the grease gun when under pressure. Anybody else have this experience? Should I chuck it and use something different?

Castrol is supposed to be a pretty good product, at least I thought it was above average.
I have noticed that the Motomaster semi-sythetic extreme pressure red grease now does the same runny separation in the tube. I now hang my grease gun with the hose pointing down so that the runny liquid stays on top.
There is so much crappy merchandise being sold nowadays. Bicycles that you throw away after a couple of years, most cars being held together with plastic parts and fasteners, flashlights that are defective right out of the box, etc. Even household light switches labeled CSA that are so crappy that they may or may not work after they are installed.
My hope is that with this economic crisis, people's attitudes toward buying quality products may improve. On the other hand, most vehicles made during recessions are crap too because the manufacturers cut even more corners while trying to save costs.

My wife and I have a 'buy quality' attitude but have been quite disappointed with the quality of top name appliances and equipment. Water heaters that last 6 years max. A Bosch front-load washer, nothing but problems. The same with fridges and stoves.....

It is frustrating.

To sidetrack just a wee bit, Bill Mahr (I think I spelled that correctly) was on Leno last night. One comment of note he made was that 21% of American jobs involved numbers/paper shuffling (or something to that effect) instead of manufacturing, alluding to the fact that so much crap is manufactured overseas for cheaper and of less quality.

Now back on topic, yes there any many better lubricants than KY out there, shop around! :p
