For those that have added a separate screen for maps, music, etc. I know that android auto and apple carplay typically connects by bluetooth then connects to your phone by wifi. I have a Starlink mini that I want to use in my '06 GX470 for wifi since I'm frequently in areas with limited or no cell signal. I want to use ONX and other apps. Don't need it to go through my factory car stereo since it'll mostly be for apps. And I could then put it in my RZR for use also.
Has anyone figured out how to use Starlink wifi through your phone to a carplay/android auto screen such as one of these: Amazon.com : carplay screen - https://www.amazon.com/carplay-screen/s?k=carplay+screen
I think it needs to have a usb connection from phone to screen for it to work, then phone can stay connected to starlink. But I can't seem to find one with the USB connection.
Any suggestions?

Most have wifi built in. Just connect it directly to wifi and use it like a tablet instead as Android Auto/Carplay that needs cellphone. Use their native app to run it.

In the Dasaita head unit in my Tundra, it connects to my phone via WiFi and Bluetooth somehow. If I try to connect my phone to my Starlink, it disconnects the head unit from phone and I cannot get it reconnected until I disconnect from Starlink. I’ve tried to use onX on headunit app instead but it doesn’t work well in my case. If you figure it out, post it so we can see too? Thanks!

I bought this unit: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D3TV481P?tag=ihco-20
Mainly because it has a wired connection to my phone. A friend is using this one and recommended it. My GX470 is out of commission until mud season but I have this installed in my Polaris Ranger and have it connected to my starlink. So if you want to go this route for mapping (google maps and ONX maps) and want to use starlink in remote areas without cell service you need a unit like this with a wired connection to your phone. Most of the units available don't have a wired usb connection and rely only on bluetooth.
This summer I'll move it to my GX470 and should be able to hook it up to the oem stereo by aux. cable.
ONX works on this but you need to set up tracks, etc. on your phone then it mirrors on this.

FWIW, I have downloaded gigs and gigs of offline USGS topo and oNx offroad maps to my Joying Android head unit, and have used them extensively without any connection. A 256 gb head unit will get you a good portion (if not all) of the lower 48 in high-resolution 7.5' USGS quads.
