This is essentially what I did w/
My 285s and it cured my rubbing issues.


I tried to do as little trimming as possible, but never could get rid of my rubbing at full steering wheel lock. Probably something to do with the offset of my wheels. Got fed up with it and decided to just ensure the problem would be fixed by trimming the bumper. My bumper was already trashed when I purchased the car, so it wasn't that big of a decision.
 
Had to replace the alternator recently. Might be looking to sell the vehicle to get something a little bigger, if anyone is interested shoot me a text at 513-720-0399. 168k miles, asking $12,000 as-is.
