Carburetor Swap F/2F Engines

I own a '74 FJ40 Cruiser. I recently replaced the engine with a 2F (had a rebuilt one laying around.) With this 2F, I did not have a carburetor. Can I get away with installing the F-engine carburetor on the 2F motor?

sure, I run the old aisin 1 barrel on my 78 2f, amazingly I really like the combo.

issues you might have are lingage, vacuume lines.

I run an F carb ('74) on a 2F manifold, with a 2F valve cover and aircleaner on an "F" engine. The only problem I had was that on the 2F intake, the F carb sits lower because it is shorter. I made an adapter that fits the carb and the aircleaner and I welded a stud in the adapter to accomodate the 2F aircleaner. I can post a pic if anyone is interested. If you want to desmog a 2F, I think this is the way to go. My '40 is titled a '66 so no smog requirements.
The problem with desmogging a 2F is that there are internals in the 2F carb that are smog controlled, so when you disconnect the smog stuff(VSV) the carb is either "on" or "off" on certain functions, the power valve, I believe, is the main one. Does any of this make sense?
