OK, I just don't get it. I've tried searching but I still can't figure it out.

On my 3/69-9/69 2BBL Aisan Carb...

The secondary barrel does not seem to be opening under load.

So here is my question...

Does the secondary butterfly open mechanically, or by the vacuum on the opposite side of the machanical linkage?

Here is a photo with the throttle closed...

so the machanical linkage has opened the secondary butterfly just slightly, but nothing is making the secondary butterfly fully open.

Here is the secondary butterfly opened manually...

So am I crazy? Does this open via vacuum? I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything before putting it back on.

Thanks,

Kurt

It is a vacuum secondary.

Mark,

I thought so, but wasn't sure. Thanks!

Post a shot of the other side.

Mark,

It's back on the FJ. I found the problem; I ordered a lower and upper carb gasket (either side of the isolator) but received two lower gaskets instead.

I didn't realize the 1st time that the lower gasket didn't have a whole for a vacuum pass thru. So when I pulled it off and noticed the difference I made myself one out of gasket material and it worked great. I also had several vacuum leaks that were fixed on the reinstall, thanks to high temp gasket sealer.

Thanks for your help.
