I'm planning to install a new aftermarket roof rack on my 09 GX and I've gone through the Internet where people say to stay away from the brushed ones and do only touch less, otherwise the top roller is going to yank the rack and cause significant damage to the roof as well. Most people also recommend to use touch less car wash. I get it.
My question is if the soft cloth car wash doesn't have the top roller but instead just strips of cloth dangling on top and going over the roof rack....have you experienced it enough to know whether it is safe or still risky?. Would especially like to hear from those who have an aftermarket rack and have experienced going though the soft cloth wash with just dangling cloth straps going over the roof rack.
