Hey!
I’ve been creeping on this forum for about two months now I just bought a FJ 80 and having a great time with it but it came with a car alarm/dead man that I’m removing today. I’ve almost got everything out but there’s two wires I don’t know where they go. It’s under the dash by the steering column one is white with the black stripe and the other one is a black wire

The alarm was an APSR I’ve been able to splice every other wire back together, but they had an aftermarket relay where these wires were going in along with an orange ground wire from the alarm

I’ve got the wiring diagrams, but I can’t seem to find these two particular wires on where they go. Does anybody have any experience with this? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You are are your own with an aftermarket alarm, other than research you do on the internet. There are a couple of good threads on the OEM alarm removal that may help you. Generally on any alarm the wires going in/near/attached to the steering column are going to be for the starter interrupt.

Hey, thanks for the response. I was able to pull out any of the splice or anything going into the steering column. These last two wires come off of factory harnesses but we’re going into a relay. I’m not sure if that really was part of the car or if it’s a factory relay.

Can you provide a picture of the relay and where it was mounted.
FYI .... In your last picture you posted, none of those wires look OEM. OEM wires are normally two colors or other markings and don't use the spade type connectors.
So the red wires and the yellow wires, you can tell that whoever installed this car and cut them and splice in the components to get the alarm going, was able to keep those splice together, but the white with the black stripe goes to the bottom factory, harness, and the black solid goes to the factory harness above the steering column

The relay was attached right at the base of the steering column where these harnesses are come together

Only other suggestion is to download the FSM - Factory Service Manual and EWD - Electrical Wiring Diagram from the "Resources" section of the forum to help chase down the function of various wires. The link for Resources is in the top line of every page.

I got it! The harness was a custom made jumper with a built in relay for the car alarm and kill switch. I removed it and connected the factory harness back together. On top of that I got the main fuse splices cleaned up and secured. Learned a lot. Thanks for the help!
