Does anyone have any experience exporting a fj80 diesel, right hand drive and originally imported from japan, to the united states? I want to import one from bc to california and i am wondering how !

you canadian? or americano? i wonder how long you can keep a canadian plated vehicle in the states if your canadian, and lets say you were down for "work"....? or vice versa? i know it works both ways with people living near borders. i heard of someone who had a michigan plated vehicle here for a long time, owned/plated/insured legitimately by an american but they just happen to be working in canada...for an extended period i guess....

i stopped to talk to what i thought were american tourists with a washington registered 60 one day in richmond , turned out they were canadians with dual citizenship and found it cheaper to register the 60 south of the border :)

If their residence is in Canada, it will get a lot more expensive if they have an accident.

I had a vehicle in the US for one year with Ontario plates. I had to have it inspected in Hawaii (about 30 sec and $14.) and then was given a temp permit for as long as my Ont registration was good. Mind you, it was a Silverado so it met USMVSS. I have been considering taking my HDJ81 to Hawaii but wondered if it would pass inspection.
