Can you remove 2h injection pump w/out pulling timing cover?

Like the titles says. I need to pull my pump and have it rebuilt. From searching I've read you can pull the pump without pulling the automatic timer and gear. But when you go to reinstall the pump how can you make sure the gear is in sync with the others?

As posted in your other thread .... in my opinion you can't be sure you have the timing right without first having removed the timing cover to check the alignment of the markings (whose position you should really have verified before removing the pump).

PS. And to further help keep the timing correct, the position/rotation of the pump body should have been marked before removal too.

Edit: Feb 2015 ... I now understand the timing cover doesn't need to be removed after all and that the IP can be "slotted out" and "slotted back in" from the rear. (There are alignment markings to assist.)
