I have just recently purchased a landcruiser that has a GPS/CD/Radio in it where the previous owner does not know what brand or model the unit is.

Can anyone identify the brand of it?

The second picture shows the navigation option. If you look closely there is a lock symbol located in the top left of the screen. I cannot use the navigation system due to this "lock". Can anyone assist in telling me how to unlock it? I have tried resetting the whole unit and disconnecting the car battery.

Thanks in advance

I'd assume one of the setup/menus should provide some details of the brand/model.

Worst case if no one can tell what it is (given no brand on the front, it could be one of many chinese products) you could pop off the bezel etc and unscrew the unit and pull it out. Brand/Model should be on the case somewhere - again, if not, then could be a cheapie product.

Would help if you added your cruiser model to your signature and also where you are on planet earth...

Good luck.

cheers,
george.

Thanks George. I have looked through all settings and menu's to try to find the brand/model of the unit with no success.

Somewhere on the unit will be an FCC id number. (You may need to pull the unit out to find it. It will probably be on a silver tag on the back of the unit.) Google "FCC ID" and do a search on that number.

BTW this is also handy if you are trying to find drivers for computer cards(sound video etc.) and can't determine the manufacturer.

Given the map on the unit is in Australia (and presumably the OP is there) and the unit is probably made in China - the presence of a 'real' FCC number is not necessarily assured...

Be nice if the OP would mention is country and what model cruiser he has... hint hint...

cheers,
george.

Good spot George, the pictures didn't load for me. Some info in the sig would be good.
In the US the fccid will give you the mfg not necessarily the brand, a lot of stuff from China is re labeled with US brands.
