Been following the Grom Vline/Tesla style screen etc threads regarding getting Android Auto and carplay in a 200.

The general approach seems to be to tap into the aux on the nav and mirror a phone, or "Tesla screens"... Which may mess with HVAC etc.

Wondering if it'd be possible to swap the CD/DVD unit for a different head unit and leave the nav/HVAC alone? I'm not even sure if the nav and DVD are "separate" units or how they are connected.

Just spitballing/wonder if anyone has tried this.

In our trucks, its all integrated into one unit. There may be a possibility to get the separate HVAC cluster from a different optioned LC from overseas (non-Nav) and attempt to adapt. Additionally, I don't think the opening is a standard DIN size either. So, even if you are able to separate the controls, you're left with a spot you really can't use and don't likely have an adapter kit for to properly mount a typical DIN unit.
