i know the original company that made the can backs went under years ago. i heard somebody in CO was doing them or trying to do them....

anyways, i have a brand new one ( still in the original packaging ) for my 85 4runner and i'm thinking about selling it. i know it was a little over $1400 new. trying to come up with a reasonable price but don't want to give it away either.....

any input would be appreciated.

Georg, there are a few newer companies making them and from my research, they are going for $650 up to around $900 new. Does yours have all the hardware? I might be interested in it for the 4Runner build. Send me some pics if you can.

If you have all the hardware and paperwork then I would say that $800 - $1,000 would be a reasonable starting point for a real CanBack, especially an original NIB. I would love to have it myself, but I have to get my 88 running first, then the :princess: might let me look at one of those.

i don't have the paperwork.

it's an original CANBACK.

everything is still in the original packaging.

i have all the hardware.

tan fabric.

i think i might just hold onto it unless i can get $1000-1200 for it. is that un-reasonable?!

:hhmm: You still using that 650 #??

Georg, keep it for a little bit and throw it on a customer's project??

Just a thought there. You gotta have someone that has the right vehicle it's for as a customer, thought of putting it together, taking some shots of it, posting them up in the office and mentioning it every so often in passing, or better yet, wait for the weather to brighten up a little bit and throw it on and leave the rig parked outside with a sign saying "Topper For Sale!".
:grinpimp:

Even better, get the shots off and post an ad on Pirate?? Those guys wouldn't hesitate to push each other out of the way to get to it.

~I'll mention it to a couple guys I know with that generation of truck, both are in prime condition and it would match their tan bodywork. I'll send them your # and this page link. :)

**Note to vendors/advertisers, this is how you conduct passive sales, Georg is a cool guy who's respected by our community and most likely this is why this post has gone so far and not gotten bashed. :D

Thanks Shane. Yup, same cell # I've had for 15 years or more. Appreciate the input. My runner lives at home in the garage, only sees the light of day when I go wheeling which isn't nearly enough. But my baby boy will be three this Friday and I think he's ready to go with his daddy.

I'd rather not mount it, then I'll want to keep it on and it'll get bashed on the trail. So maybe I should post it in the pbb but I'm not looking for some punkass kids telling me that my junk is too expensive.......

I'm not in a hurry to make a decision so I'll just leave it sitting under the runner for now.

*Note to self..pay Georg a visit sometime soon since I always think of him at the same time I'm flying past BassPro, Manteca on the way to the Parent's house.

The referrals I gave will drop my name if/when they contact you. :) We'll be busy the next three weeks but I'll get in touch as soon as things are more mellow.
The Swap Meet might be that opportunity.
