can a4.2 diesel fit into a lj78 prado

what do i have to do to shoehorn a 4.2 diesel into a1j78 and if so can the automatic take the extra

There was a long thread about this 12 months ago and I think the consensus was that it could be done but I dont think its worth the effort.
The engine bay on the LJ78 is shorter and lower at the front than a heavy duty 7* series.
It would make more sense to go with a 3L 5L or 1KZ T .
 
I think this has been discussed...try a forum search for 1Hz Prado or 1HD-T Prado. I think Wayne measured it up and found that the Prado front clip is several inches shorter than the heavy-duty 70 series trucks.

I'd love to see someone do the swap, but it would be an expensive swap. I think you'd have to do the tranny as well. You'd be better off selling your truck and buying a PZJ77 or HZJ77.
