The family and I are planning to travel to Bend to pick up a Cascadia RTT in a couple of weeks. We would like to travel back home along the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway and find a place to stop and try out the new tent. Hopefully not in a crowded campground and somewhere the bugs wont eat us alive. I know that a lot to ask of the cascades this time of year ( bugs anyway). Just checking to see if anyone knows of some neat spots?

Thanks,

Curtis

Sounds like you're in for a great trip. I was born and raised in Bend and we used to do a lot of hunting/camping on the logging roads between Bend and Mt. Bachelor. I think you should be able to find some great spots if you do a little exploring ... which is the fun part anyway.

Have a good one ...

We just camped along the Barlow Rd, part of the Oregon Trail this past Memorial day weekend. There are a lot of spots where you can just pull of the trail and camp. Lots of open space and not an organized camp site. Not only do you get a great camping spot, but you can drive part of the original rd that brought thousands of pioneers to Oregon City. You can get to it off of 216 or 48.
