i'd rather not have to stand it up on its ends though. might spill my pepper. may have to anyway if i ever have to load it on the truck by myself.
 
I use a $60 Stanley Job Box for my camping stuff. It has wheels, water resistant, Lockable. I keep all my small stuff (camp axe, tent stakes, mallet, saw, folding shovel, Kitchen utencils, paracord, tarps, flashlights. It also has a sliding tool tray in the top for smaller items. The top is strong enough that a few people can sit on it and it won't bend. It's fairly light when empty (about 30 lbs), but the wheels make moving it easy once lifted from the truck. This is definitely not bear proof but will keep the chipmunks and racoons from getting to your stuff.

well, finally finished. you can't tell from the pics but its on wheels.

had to put on a thick coat of polyurethane. the paint was too soft otherwise.

Paint usually needs a couple weeks to properly harden up unless baked on.
