I have been researching this like crazy and don't seem to be able to find any good answers. Has anyone here done a diesel swap (4bt, MB, ect) into a first or second gen truck in CA? Trying to figure out the engine swap laws for doing something like this and I understand it will have to go to a board to be checked that it is a diesel, but is it even OK to do? I've heard that you can put a car engine (MB) into a light truck or a heavy truck engine (4bt) into a light truck, ect.
Can anyone help clarify things for me? I really really want to put a diesel into my wifes 82 pickup but I'm not sure it can be done legally in CA. Has anyone here done it that can give me some first hand knowledge! Thanks.
