Death Valley Jim, the BLM and I would like to extend an invite out to Mule Canyon to do a little cleanup. I know it's last minute and will be hot, but you can tough it out for one day to do something good. The Calico area is going to hell in a hand basket again. There's trash everywhere and the Bizmark mine is full of graffiti. So if you can help come on out.
Where: MULE CANYON RD and CALICO GHOST TOWN ROAD/YERMO RD. EXIT off I-15
When: August 23rd at 7:30AM
What to bring:
Plenty of water, sunscreen and a good hat.
Bring a shovel, a rake and spare trash bags in case we run out.
Im trying to arrange to bring out a dump trailer if i can. We couldn't get a dumpster donated so as of right now we will haul whatever we pick up home with us or to the local dump.
Since i own TRASHAROO, i've donated some bags to give away after the cleanup.
Barstow Home Depot has graciously provided a $50 gift card to purchase supplies for the clean up. Ridgecrest Home Depot is donating water, trash bags, gloves, and magnetic tools for picking up nails and such. Thank you to both of these Home Depot Stores.
This is a BLM sanctioned cleaned-up in association with Death Valley Jim and Southern California Off Road Explorers. Volunteers will have to arrive at the Mule Canyon meeting point, and take part in a "Do's and Don't" with our assigned BLM personal.
Cleanup will focus on trash removal, graffiti removal, and general up keep of commons areas. Some will travel up to Bizmark mine to try and pressure wash or clean up the graffiti as best they can. Others will travel through Mule canyon, Kramer arch and Tin Can Alley to pick up and clean whatever they may find.
Hope you guys can make it, i know it's not the best time but it's when the BLM supplied the permit and it's only one day.
