I finally got my bj7x cable lockers installed on my bj44 and I'm dying to give them a try. I just need to install the cables. I have all the stuff and I'm just wondering where it all sat on the 70. How did the cable run I such a way that it could move well with the axle? Where did they pass thru the body to the interior and where where the levers mounted? Any pics showing any of this would be great! In the end I may have cables made to length and I may do it all different but for a start I'd like to know how the factory did it.

Thanks-

Pete

I have installed cable lockers in my BJ 73. Just routed cabling and attached to chassie wherever the securing tabs on the cable fell so to speek.
I was lucky they fell where there were captive nuts in the chassie rails.

I just routed the cables through the transmission cover utilising the factory body kit.

Below are pics of where I positioned the handles. Where the handles were positioned re factory and where the cabling went through the body near the drivers seat.

Thanks Gary- that clears things up. I'm actually planning on putting the levers in exactly the same spot as you did.

So the cable runs under the carpet and exits to the rear next to the driver side seat? Any shots of how it runs under the truck?

Thanks,

Petr

yes, front/rear cables exit cab side by side near the B pillar.....The front cable arcs back forward in a 180 degree bend towards center/front of truck (4-5" radius ESTIMATE).... I can get more pics tomorrow....

Between the cable locker "handles" and the exit of the cab they go side by side along the sill of the right/drivers side....

As far as the floor mat goes????? I think it says something about running with scissors or something....

Yo! if you're putting your handles between the seats, and my photos are a waste of time or bothersome let me know.....

Actually the pics are a great help. The cables I have seem so long and now I can see why.

Mine is a medium wheel base and I think my cables are from a medium wheel base 70 as well. Any chance for some shots of the cable routing from underneath?

Hey Pete my apologies for not posting a response :whoops: Have been away an not been on the site for a while. Unfortunately I have since sold the cruiser. Mine was right hand drive and I utilsed the coupling on the actual cabe that was closest to the actuator mechanism to fix the cable to the captive nuts in the right hand chasssis. I did this for both front and rear cables. Then from there on I just postioned the cables so that there was a nice curve in the cable. So in essence the was only two fixed points for each cale . The one near the actuator with the other being the handles themselves.
Regards Gary
