Cable Locker - lever location

Hi all, a long time lurker here with a simple question

I have just picked up a front cable locker out of a 198? BJ71 that i am going to fit to a 1982 FJ40 along with the power steering and front disk brakes. I all ready have a lokka (lockrite copy) in the rear.

The lever for the cable locker is missing so i will have to fabricate something up which is no big deal but a picture of a factory one would be nice to built off...

My specific question however is where is the lever usually located in a FJ40??

Cheers Tony

1982 FJ40, 5l EFI V8, PTO Winch, synthetic Cable, Locked rear, 6 point roll cage,
2" extended shackles, racing seats with 5 point harness, bars and stiff

1988 BJ71, Custom bars, OBA, 1 straight panel left, PTO winch

1993 KZJ71

I'd never heard of one in an FJ-40, not states-side anyway. are they fairly common in NZ? I'd love to get my crubby little paws on one!

Check page 3 of the build up in my sig line. It's not a factory location, but it works pretty well. I'll probably move the locker levers to the dash where the factory ebrake handle is later. Cable lockers are SWEET. :)

Looks like I will be doing just what you have done with the front axle, your write up will be very usefull.

cheers Tony
