(Who is going to Texas to wheel in three weeks and has exactly zero chance of breaking his antenna while there! :D )

Hey, ya got an invitation to join us this summer. ;)

Nice wide open country on the menu too. No broken antennas, mnirrors or snorkles expected.

I wouldn't run a spring, personally. I don't see the need.

I have the Wilson 4' 1/4" Flex antenna on my FJ40 and the 3' version on my Tacoma with an ARB bullbar. I also have a break-over adapter so that I can lay it down and strap it to the bullbar when not in use.

I have never had an issue with even *thinking* that they were going to break. These antennas are super flexible. The 4' one on my FJ40 has stood up to some SERIOUS wheelin' and brush running over in Arkansas and South Dakota with not so much as a scratch.

I won't own any other antenna except the Wilson flex series ever again. They are the shizzle...

Just my opinion, draw your own from your experience.

Jody.

I have broken many without a spring mount being on the east coast. I say get one with a spring if that is where you really want it because it will get broken. And the springs aren't going to be whipping it around like a metronome. They are rated stronger so they won't do that.
