Buying a trailer this week, what to check out?

Yeah, that is what I was thinking, I have a line on a "new" m101, from a Military Surplus local shop, but he wants 1500 bucks... but I get to choose from a lot of 10 of them.

I will lurk some more and see what turns up.

1500 sounds too high. I paid 800 cnd for a really clean one. But I had to drive 14 hrs to get it. 28 round trip. So with fuel and a hotel I was I guess 1200. I was three tanks of diesel(80 bucks each) food and 80 bucks for a room.

But still cnd dollars. so think .90 cent to the us dollar.

I could see 1500 if you were a military buff and this was a show piece to go behind a vintage jeep. And it was perfect. never in sunlight, or pulled.

I think Wes was referring to copying my trailer build. If I was doing this all over again, I would *definitely* start from scratch, the base M416/M101 is fine but there's a lot of mods to do IMHO, and by the time you got those sorted out, you're probably better off with a custom build. Even in its current form there are little things about my M416 that I would change if I could, things you don't notice until you're using it on a regular basis.

I'm amassing bits and pieces for another round of mods to mine and considered selling mine and starting all over. But the CFO (wife) will not approve a budget allocation for that....! :)

Exiled-

Thanks for chiming in, I have learned a lot by studying your trailer. I guess for me, who has a lot more time than money, I could be using mine from day one and mod as I go.

Comming up with the cash to build one from scratch isn't as feasible for me as building over time. If I go scratch built route, then I will undoubtably be waiting for a few years to get it into use.

Anyhow, what would you still change about your m416. And if you need a buyer, maybe we could talk ;) It might make it more feasible to start you new project... :D

Thanks!
