Got my hands on the new Bush Company LX27 rooftop tent. Quality of the tent and materials is really top notch, only annoyance I've found so far is the t slot channels can be hard to use with the welded frame, sort of blocks up the bolt sliding in nicely.

Mounted the tent directly to the ARB baserack backbone. Works a treat with the mounting rails running east to west on the tent. Left a bit of a gap to allow for my 270 awning to swing over the tail gate.

Installed the backbone by itself first to get the measurements between rails for the front, middle and back then just aligned it all up on the tent correctly and drilled away and mounted it on with the Bush Company hardware.

looks great. i wonder how many MPGs are lost when this is added?
Havent been out for any big drives yet, but around town at home im getting very similar numbers, maybe an extra L/100 more or so. Will get out for a bigger trip this weekend and report back.

How do you like the tent? Can you mount surfboard racks on top of the tent?
Yeah pretty happy with it, upgraded the mattress to a self inflating and thats made a big difference. Yep i made up some roof racks and mounted a solar panel up there. Still opens fine and would happily take surfboards with no issue. Bush company sell racks for them too I think
