Good evening.

I'm new into the swb scene I currently own a 76 series but sadly have to sell so I'm looking at buying a nice little rig either a ld or hd but I was wondering if I could maybe get some positives and negatives and different models people have.

I saved this that another member posted so I get some of the info

HD - BJ, HJ, PZJ, HZJ
LD - LJ, KZJ, small gasser

if it has coils on the rear then it is a LD, if it has the smaller rounder front clip it is a LD, if it has the 8" rear diff it is LD.
if it has leafs on the rear then it is HD, if it has a 9.5" rear diff then it is HD, if it has the boxier front end then it is HD.

I was wondering if the hd is coil front and leaf rear like my 76 or leafs all round like the 73/74 and upwards until the 79s and so forth.

Any info on any of the ld or hd that people can help me out with would be great. I'd say I'm looking for something to play with but still can take out camping on the beach.

Also I'm in australia I've been searching just on gumtree and so forth for cars but they don't really list them as what they are some are just under bundera but then I see them with leaf and coils so I'm not sure what to look at and also if there is a post that I can just read I appoligise and please link.

Thank you

Shane

The 75 series was Leaf/Leaf and 9.5 inch diffs front and rear. The 79 is like your 76 with Coil/Leaf. Can't comment on the size of the diffs because I've never got personal with a 79. IMHO, if I was getting a 70 series, I would get a 75 with a 1HD-T dropped in, there was one on gumtree the other day, not sure if its still there or not. I like the HDJ79, but I don't think they're worth the 30+ grand they go for. Just my $0.02...
