Bumper ideas

hey guys i'm building my first bumper for my 84 pickup and i'm looking for ideas. something simple but effective although any pics and or demensions would be great. thanks in advance.

Heres what I made for my rear its simple but the thing can take down a jersy bearier (aperently )

Here's my front. Not the prettiest out there, but stout.
Note to self: next time I recess the turnsignals and fog lights into the bumper like this, I'll remember to drill the tabs first.

Something to keep in mind…I find the wrap around corners on the sides (like in post 5) very useful. They push the truck away from obstacles preventing you from smashing the fender and side marker light.

I've always toyed......hehe, with the idea of (post 10's) a drain or panel instaled for winter or excursions.


Winter: add sand for weight or traction

Excursions: add non/ potable water (also for traction) or cargo.

I saw a "Paris Dakar" RR (RubelRobber, RangeRetard) with a bumper like that for extra oil.

1eye do you have any more pics/specs for that bumper? I'm thinking of making something like that and yours sparked my attention.

I'd love to see some homemade ones close to Warn's pickup front bumper...

I'm trying to design one that similiar to the ARB and the FrontRangeOR bumpers. Once I figure out the design i'll take it to my friendly local fab shop and see if they can do it/cost to do it. I think the Warn is similiar to those other two.

front range used to sell the center section by itself, don't know if they still do that or not.

Truth to tell, I just "thought it up", then just started fabbing it up. I have a few pictures, but lost most of the ones i took while building it.:whoops:
Its made from 1/4" steel plate. The winch mount/skid plate I custom bent on a press (27 tons to bent it) but you could just cut and weld it, which is what i did for the rest of it.

I can try and post some more pic here, but most of them would have to be "tweeked" to fit on here. Let me know?
