So after looking carefully at my front axle, I realized that I will have to shave some metal off the circle area which protects the gear oil drainage nut. I must have landed the axle pumpking on a rock hard enough to dent the circle lip which now makes it tuff for the socket to sit on the nut..

Any tips on how I can do this? Shave enough metal to clear the way?

Most of the time I grind it back with a carbide burr in a die grinder, but some times go medieval and knock it out of the way with a hammer and punch/chisel.

Nice tip tools R Us...too bad I don't have any air tools....so the medieval approach will have to work...
