Decided to just build a bed...

So, I am thinking a hybrid with a SWB-style smooth sides on a LWB truck.
Think I have a lead on wheel wells, but am looking for a source for a corrugated steel sheet that can be used for the bed.

Unfortunately I don't have Miker's fab skillz so...suggestions?

Cut out what you need from a fullsize pickup bed found for cheap at the wreckers...

Thought about that, but the wheel well "holes" are not in the correct place

I was in the same situation and had thought about doing what you are. The Aqualua and other options are really expensive. Right now Wally from Poor Wallys Land Cruiser Emporium is building a factory style bed for me just bobbed to where the frame goes. It should be done in the next month. I will post pics when finished.

I have queries into Tabco and Raybuck to see if they have a corrugated section that is large enough.

I am hoping that I can get some pics. The problem is that he lives about 3 1/2 hours from me so I can't just pop over. I am going to see if he can take some. I don't trust my fab skils and don't want to invest a ton in steel just to be unhappy with the finished product.

Original bed in my '77 is made up of a few pieces rather than a single large one. Basically it's five pieces, center one the length of the bed and width of inside the wheel wells. Four smaller pieces "fill in " the areas infront and behind the wheel wells.
