I believe I know the answer to this question but I wanted to seek the advice/wisdom of Mud. I've decidied to go SS and part of my cost rationalization/justification was that I could just leave the SS plates alone and can save the power coat or painting cost. Is there any reason to powder coat or paint SS skids other than aesthetics?

If you intend to use them (hit rock with them), then leaving them bare (stainless) will save you a ton of work. Stainless looked “finished” no matter what you do to them.

If it’s not for hard use, then pick a finish...any finish. ;)

I have the SS I just bought too and will NOT be painting or power coating them.....I like the SS finish.... We did pay alot more for them too LOL

Another 1.5 cent thot...
The added cost of stainless is at least partially recovered by not having to paint/coat/maintain them.
