June's Hemming's Motorsport issue has a one page article on the FJ40 Land Cruisers, if anyone is interested (or maybe it was July's?), for those wondering about the increasing popularity among collectors.

Ricardo

Thanks Ricardo I'd like to see that. :)

today on the interstate i saw a lifted f250 Fx4. looked like a 8" lift or so (it was huge). anyways, when he passed i noticed u-bolts on the rear axles, but no springs at all, just a block like whats on that sami up above. i passed him and noticed he was running the stock leaf springs with the huge 8 or 10" block and the foot long u-bolts. is this a common lift for trucks like this?

Seen it a couple times.

I have one worse for you though. When I was going to trade school in Abbeville the janitor wanted to make as much lift as he could on a stock chevy with IFS, the way he managed this was to jack the truck up by the frame so he got full droop front and rear, then welded 4 inch channel iron from the frame, to the spring pack in the rear, and used it to block the A-arms in the front so they where locked at full extension at all times, I think he was running 44's after using a cutoff saw on the fenders... The guys in the collision repair class thought he was a genius for managing to run that large a tire for so cheap, and I am thinking, my god, these are the guys who will be working on peoples cars in a few years.

In all fairness the truck was only driven to and from Duhon's mud pit, but I belive even that is too much.

Saw 37 guest this afternoon at one time! Damn, we're popular!

Well I'm back home. The yards a swamp and I heard from my neighbor its rained just about everyday since I left so I'm ready to turn around and go back to TN, but don't guess that'll work. The trip was great weather, scenery and wrenching on cruiser everyday for the the most part. I got everything I wanted to get accomplished in stripping both 40's to the frame. I finished with a completed 74 frame, and 70 tub mouted. We were getting a steady stream of parts from JT Outfitters accross the mountain who were awesome as we'd get the parts next day. I can't say the same for Cool Cruisers though I did get the parts after they remembered to ship them. Auto-zone saved me on the spring bushings after Cool Cruiser send the wrong ones I called JT Outfitters who were out of them so they gave me the Energy brand part number for them and Autozone got them to me over night. 1 thumbs up to autozone you won't get that from me very often. Well here is some pics.

Well, I sure am grateful for winning the Star Giveaway! So, in order to give something back and in keeping with the spirit behind the star giveaway, I am going to give away something as well. This one will be eligible to everyone who attends our next monthly meeting. I have a cool "Got Cruiser" long sleeve t-shirt, size L. It is new in the box and I know the winner will like it. So, just make it to the next meeting and have a chance to win it. I look forward to seeing everyone soon.
