Haha, found my new tow rig and will purchase in a few days. I'm going the opposite ways with MPG's now, dropping down to the 8-10 range.

Anyone thing a tune-up, leaning-up, and synthetic oil change will help the MPG's on a 1977 Dodge Honey with a 360 2bbl? (I don't know what the gears are yet but the tranny is 3spd no OD).

you might be surprised on fuel consumption

have a 1976 Trailduster 440 727 tans 9.25 factory LSD rear end 3.55 gears made 17 /19 mg when I could get hi octane fuel

before had a 1979 full size van 360 2bb 727 trans never knew the gears fully loaded people gear etc hwy 18 town 10 city & it didn`t make a sheet how ya drove it

my 1985 Ramcharger 318 2bbl 904 trans 8.25 think 3.08 gears & sue as hell wasn`t gona win any drag races with it, that I totaled last year:bang::bang:
on a trip to Virginia Beach Va in 05 made 18+ at 75 /80+ all the way 0n return trip with an 18ft center console boat at 70/75 made 15 it was a bit anemic on up grades if ya let cruse handle it but if ya got down on the skinny pedal early on at the bottom of the hill never had it drop below 65 this was on 87 octane .

did put a mild cam performer intake & 650CFM Edelbrock
did hurt mileage a bit but really did wake it up :)
it`s replacement is a 1985 Ramchargher 360 / factory Rochester 4bbl never saw a Quadra jet on a Mopar but it is factory . haven put enough miles to even know mpg but it is peppy:D

well that B my $1.50 worth:cheers:

Gobble gobble to all u WHO DAT fans.

ok seriously though. seems like an odd pick for a tow rig unless it was next to free and you have some upgrades planned in the future.
$.02

It's a 360(5.9l) and it is SLOW. However, in the steep hills north of my house, it never shifts down when the cruise is on and as Paul said, you can hold 60mph chlimbing a mountain. Granted, the final tranny ration is 1:1 and it has 4.56 gears. I think I got about 12mpg last night over a 100 mile trip. I am planning to put larger tires on it to help out with the gearing.

My Avalanche only gets about 16mpg and often feels like it hates towing. I towed the 4runner with it once, and it did good on the highway, but didn't want to move from a stop sign. Also, I hauled about a ton on a trailer the other day, and it only got around 8 mpg.

The Dodge on the other hand....so I've been told, shouldn't see much of a mileage change pulling the 4runner or a house for that matter. It's just geared so low.

My main choice for getting it is because it's A MOTORHOME. Food, family confort, shower, mobile toolbox, etc is worth the fuel prices. Also, it has a refinished interior and the guy wanted $2000 for it. I got him down to 1200.

My biggest issue is that the 16.5 tires for it are JUNK. Luckily the guy gave us 4 16 inch tires with it (along with a tv, microwave, inverter, power adapter, and a ton of extra parts, hoses, etc). I have located 16" rims, now I just need 2 steer tires and a spare and it will be good to go.

I will post pictures later!

Here you go. Oh, and did I mention it has a 727 Torqueflite transmission?

Yep. I guess that would be the Queen and the Princess!

We looked around and you really can't be it for $1200. Needs a little work, but pretty much ready for a trip after I get the rims and mount the new shoes. A little work on getting it sealed up and tuned up and it will all be good. Later down the road, I need to fix all of the ugly caulking.

definitely. Had the furnice running tonigh and wow. It gets toasty fast. A/C seems to work good too but hard to test an AC when it's 30 degrees ambient.

mike get ya a marlin set up
I was just looking at Marlin and they don`t have the clutch for my truck, i have 3.4:hhmm: What was the price on there kit Jon.?

Dear Abby:

My husband has a long record of money problems. He runs up huge credit-card bills and at the end of the month, if I try to pay them off, he shouts at me, saying I am stealing his money. He says pay the minimum and let our kids worry about the rest, but already we can hardly keep up with the interest.

Also he has been so arrogant and abusive toward our neighbors that most of them no longer speak to us. The few that do are an odd bunch, to whom he has been giving a lot of expensive gifts, running up our bills even more.

Also, he has gotten religious. One week he hangs out with Catholics and the next with people who say the Pope is the Anti-Christ, and the next he's with Muslims.

Finally, the last straw.

He's demanding that before anyone can be in the same room with him, they must sign a loyalty oath. It's just so horribly creepy! Can you help?

Signed, Lost in DC

Dear Lost:

Stop whining, Michelle.

You can divorce the jerk any time you want. The rest of us are stuck with him for two more years!
